Motorized Ball Valve

Short Description:

Product Overview The motorized ball valve is an automated flow‑control device that combines an electric actuator with a standard ball valve. By rotating the ball 90° around an axis perpendicular to the flow path, the valve achieves full opening, closing, or precise throttling. Product Overview

The motorized ball valve is an automated flow‑control device that combines an electric actuator with a standard ball valve. By rotating the ball 90° around an axis perpendicular to the flow path, the valve achieves full opening, closing, or precise throttling. Powered by AC220V, AC380V, or DC24V, the actuator responds to 4‑20mA current or voltage signals from a control system, delivering 0‑90° angular rotation to accurately regulate or shut off the medium in the pipeline.

This unit features an integrated mechatronic design – the actuator includes a built‑in servo system, eliminating the need for an external servo amplifier. The valve body bore is fully aligned with the connecting pipe, allowing the medium to pass through with virtually no resistance.

Key Features

• Minimal Fluid Resistance – Among all valve types, the ball valve offers the lowest flow resistance. Even reduced‑bore models maintain very low pressure drops, while full‑port designs ensure negligible head loss.

• Superior Sealing Performance – The seat uses resilient materials such as PTFE, providing a tight seal that improves with increasing line pressure. Bubble‑tight shut‑off (zero leakage) is achievable.

• Smooth & Stable Operation – Thrust bearings reduce stem friction, ensuring long‑term, effortless operation. The stem rotates without axial movement, which preserves packing integrity and enhances sealing as pressure rises.

• Extended Service Life – PTFE and similar materials have excellent self‑lubricating properties, minimising friction against the ball and significantly extending valve life.

• Built‑in Safety Features – A blow‑out‑proof stem design (with a retaining shoulder) prevents stem ejection. An anti‑static spring safely discharges static electricity generated during switching. Explosion‑proof versions (ExdII BT4) are available for hazardous environments.

• Compact & Easy to Install – The actuator mounts directly onto the valve, resulting in a space‑saving, lightweight assembly with simple wiring – ideal for tight piping layouts.

Manufacturing Standards

The electric motorized ball valve is designed and manufactured in accordance with internationally recognised standards, including GB/T12237, API 608, API 6D, DIN 3357, and BS 5351. Flange dimensions can be supplied to GB, ANSI, JIS, DIN, or other standards to meet project requirements worldwide.

Control Modes

Two primary control options are offered to suit different automation needs:

• ON/OFF (Switch) Type – The valve is driven fully open or fully closed by switching the power supply. Ideal for simple shut‑off or two‑position control.

• Modulating (Regulating) Type – Accepts an analogue 4‑20mA (or 0‑10mA, 1‑5VDC) signal to position the ball anywhere between 0° and 90°, enabling precise proportional control of flow, pressure, or temperature.

Applicable Media

The electric motorized ball valve is suitable for a wide range of fluids, including water, solvents, acids, natural gas, petroleum, steam, and oil products. Thanks to its excellent sealing and clog‑resistant design, it performs especially well with viscous fluids, slurries containing particulates, fibrous media, and pulp. It can also handle demanding conditions such as oxygen, hydrogen peroxide, methane, and ethylene.

Application Fields

As a key automated control valve, this product is widely deployed in:

• Petrochemical & Oil/Gas – Flow control and emergency shut‑off in pipelines.

• Power Generation – High‑temperature and high‑pressure media in boiler feedwater and steam systems.

• Metallurgy & Steel – Flow regulation of hot gases and liquids in heavy industry.

• Water & Wastewater Treatment – Sludge, slurry, and viscous fluid transport.

• Pulp & Paper – Fibre‑laden stock and coating materials.

• HVAC & Refrigeration – On/off and modulating control of hot/chilled water.

• Food & Pharmaceutical – Sanitary process lines (with appropriate materials and finishes).
